Abstract
OBJECTIVE: To compare abortion patients’ self-assessment of eligibility for medication abortion with clinician assessment.
METHODS: The study evaluated whether patients could accurately assess their own eligibility for medication abortion using survey-based screening compared with clinician review.
RESULTS: The study examined agreement between patient self-assessment and clinician assessment, with attention to history-based screening factors relevant to medication abortion care.
CONCLUSION: Patient self-assessment may support medication abortion care models that use history-based screening, telehealth, or self-managed pathways, while also identifying circumstances where clinician assessment remains important.
